Before you begin

SeniorBoard takes about 5 minutes to try. This page walks you through what you need and the order we recommend — so your first impression matches the real experience.

1You need a Google account

SeniorBoard signs you in with Google. If you don't have an account yet, you can create one in a few minutes.

For your first test, your own Google account works perfectly. You can always switch to a dedicated account for the senior later.

2Add a few calendar events first

SeniorBoard shows what's in your Google Calendar — it doesn't add anything itself. If your calendar is empty, the board will look empty too.

Most important step. Spend 2 minutes adding 3–5 events before you sign in. This is the single biggest thing that makes the first impression land.

Easy events to add for testing:

Mix one-time and recurring events. Mix today, tomorrow, and next week.

3Test on a computer first — not a phone or tablet

SeniorBoard is designed for a large screen in the senior's home. Phones and tablets work for sending messages later, but the board itself should be tested on a real computer screen.

Open your laptop or desktop. Press F11 for fullscreen. That's how it will look in the home.

4Decide who else should help (optional)

If multiple family members will add appointments to the senior's calendar, share access in Google Calendar — the same way you'd share any calendar.

You can do this later. For your first test, just use your own calendar.

5The physical screen comes last

Don't buy or set up a screen for the senior's home yet. First make sure SeniorBoard works the way you want on your own computer. Then you'll know exactly what to look for in a screen and how to set it up.

We'll have a separate guide for the physical screen setup when you're ready.
